Welcome to the third edition of 5 Minutes 5 Questions – short profiles of some of our dear customers. This time we spoke to Hilary Bowen, stay at home mom and supportive partner of Hinterland founder Raph. Please speak to one of the Seeds team if you’d like to be interviewed – as the name suggests, it only takes 5 minutes!
What’s your favorite product in Seeds?
We love that you carry Nin Jiom, the cough syrup – that’s one we always need! And the Kaslo pasta, we eat that a lot.
What’s your favourite local place for a picnic?
We love Saratoga beach, and closer by Number 6 Mine Park.
What’s your signature dish?
My watermelon salad! I always bring it to potlucks. Watermelon, red onion, feta cheese and parsley with a vinegar dressing.
What’s your favourite cookbook?
For sentimental reasons The Fanny Farmer Cookbook, because that’s the one I remember my mom having, and that was the first cookbook I ever got, as a gift from my parents. I use it every day. And there’s another called Apples for Jam that I really like too. It’s a family cookbook by a women in Italy that is divided by colour – so red for tomato and strawberry recipes. It’s stuff she cooks for her own girls and recipes from her childhood and memories she has of eating them. I think she has two other cookbooks too but I like that one.
What’s your guilty food pleasure?
Lots of butter and Alison’s chocolates!
